Persons with Disabilities protest over NDDC neglect

The Port Harcourt office of the (NDDC) Niger Delta Development Commission today experienced a gridlock as disabled people from the Niger Delta states stormed the office

About N1,000 disabled persons across the region were seen protesting that the commission has always neglected them in its activities and it was the only way they could show their grievances.
David Enogho, The president of the Niger Delta Coalition of persons with Disabilities spoke to pressmen saying the commission has always neglected them in everything over the years.
He also said for a long time the commission hasn’t made any impact on people with disabilities and they have attempted severally to get the attention of the commission but to no avail and that was why they did the protest.

Mr Enogho said they are appealing to the Commission to assist them in creating employment opportunities, award scholarships, give them free medical care and other schemes that can empower the disabled people in the Niger Delta.

The M.D of NDDC has promised that the commission will look into their matter and ensure that they are contacted within the next two week…
My Opinion: I feel their pains. NDDC, its not by making promises ooo. The commission should ensure that the reasons for this protest is taken care of.
